Dreamin' of a Real Sneak Up
Dreaming of a real sneak up is composed using color pencils in the 1800’s ledger art style and illustrates a traditional straight dancer dressed in dance regalia reminiscent of the turn of the century, as he is dancing to a sneak up song and dreaming of the past. The sneak up dance is the oldest form of traditional ceremonial/social dance that was done by plains warriors to describe their tracking of an enemy or a hunt. Today, the sneak up dance is used in contemporary tribal celebrations across the country by many tribal nations in both traditional and contest gatherings. Its presence in today's society is a welcome reminder to Indigenous tribes and to the world to reflect the spirit of the warrior and traditional peoples of the plains.
