The Courting Song of Red Lodge

This piece portrays an indigenous warrior playing a courting song with his cane flute.  His song travels through the air and all the elements to a would- be suitor.

His head is surrounded in blue to demonstrate the sacredness of his thought while playing.  The orange circles symbolize the excitement and the beginning of a prospective courtship.

The blue bird represents the sacred notes that are carried through the excitement of this new love.  His red and white horse represents both the blood of the people and the innocence and purity of Creator.     The two designs represent the four lodges that house the four directions.
